The Seppuku Ash of War is one of many different unique skills in Elden Ring that the player can use to enhance the power of their melee weapons beyond their normal capabilities. These skills can either be applied to armaments in their standard form or alongside a variety of different affinities in order to change the stat that the weapon scales with. And if you’re someone who’s really looking forward to making the best build that focuses on bleed in the game, you’re really going to want to know the Seppuku Location.

But be warned, Seppuku is not an early game Ash of War. To get it you have to play through a significant chunk of the game and have completed a few different legacy dungeons and defeated a number of different demi-god bosses, none of whom are optional. So if you’re going to read further into this article, do so knowing that you may encounter potential spoilers about the mid to late-game. With that being said, let’s dive into this Seppuku Location guide. We’ll also show you which are some of the best weapons this skill works best with, as well as how you can duplicate it.

What Is Seppuku 

One of the best skills in Elden Ring is undoubtedly Seppuku. The skill can be found in Ashes Of War and can be used on polearms as well as swords that can be used for thrusting. However, you cannot use it on Small and Colossal Weapons.

The skill is a forbidden technique that is used by Swordsman belonging to the Land Of Reeds. To perform the skill, you will have to plunge your blade into your stomach directly and stain it with blood. Upon doing so, your attack power will increase incredibly and your ability to inflict blood loss damage will improve drastically as well. The FP cost for it is 4.

Furthermore, the skill is not Chargeable and when you activate the skill, you will because a special Hemorrhage Effect. The Hemorrhage effect can take away 10% of your maximum health points. Also, the buff will last for 60 seconds only as soon as the Blood Loss message appears on your screen.

In order to locate the Seppuku Ash of War, players will have to play through around 40 to 50 hours of the game on average, depending on how fast they’re breezing through the content, and progress the experience far enough to gain access to the Mountaintops of the Giants region. This is the snowy section of the world that you get to explore near the end-game.

For reference, if you’re going with the natural flow of the adventure, you’ll probably have completed each of the following locations first. The order is not set in stone though.

• Stormveil Castle: Defeat Margit, The Fell Omen, and gain access to the Roundtable Hold. Then kill Godrick The Grafted and unlock the northern region of the map.
• Academy of Raya Lucaria: Kill the Red Wolf of Radagon and then fight Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. You should now have received the Great Rune of the Unborn and unlocked the ability to Respec your character.
• Redmane Castle: Visit the stronghold in the southeastern corner of the Caelid region and defeat Starscourge Radahn as part of the Radahn festival.
• Volcano Manor: Recieve an invitation to visit the Volcano Manor from Rya, then kill all three of your assassination targets. This will then allow you to fight and defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.
• Leyndell, Royal Capital: Collect both halves of the Dectus Medallion and enter the city at the base of the Erdtree. Now defeat Morgott the Omen King and talk to Melina to receive the Rold Medallion, which grants access to the Mountaintops of the Giants via the Grand Lift of Rold.

For me personally, all of this took around 75 hours but I was also completing every single questline and optional dungeon. So if you’re also taking your time, expect to reach the Elden Ring Seppuku Location at around the same time as me.

But whenever you do finally arrive at the Mountaintops of the Giants, explore a bit and look for the ‘Freezing Lake’ Site of Grace in the northeastern corner of the map. There are a bunch of enemies and other hazards on the path to get here, but you can also sprint through them all if you choose.

From this point, look directly East towards a frozen body of water as it spreads out before you. Then mount your Horse, and keep riding across the lake until you reach the group of trees seen in the image below.

Now dismount your Horse and look around the base of these trees for a set of glowing tracks that vanish after a couple of steps. Players will recognize these as the footsteps of certain creatures known as Teardrop Scarabs, which drop Ashes of Wars and even replenish your Flasks when killed, depending on the type you encounter.

This particular Teardrop Scarab is invisible, and players will have to memorize its path by following the glowing tracks that appear as it moves. You’ll probably hear the creature before you ever see its tracks, so keep that in mind when searching for it.

You’ll also have to learn to strike where it will be, as opposed to where it is, to be able to hit it. It’s not a challenging thing to do, but it’s more annoying and time-consuming than it is difficult.

And when the Scarab dies, it will finally reward you with the Elden Ring Seppuku Ash of War that you’ve been looking for.

So now that you’ve found the Elden Ring Seppuku Location, what exactly does the skill actually do? Well, this is a Blood oriented Ash of War that allows players to sacrifice a bit of their health in order to buff the armament they are using with a glowing red effect. And before anyone wonders, no this does not work on Ranged Weapons.

The whole animation plays out with the character stabbing themselves in the stomach, and the ‘Blood Loss’ status effect showing up on the screen. The damage received seems to be considerably less than what you might take if an enemy inflicted Hemmorage on you with their own weapons.

Either way, the buffed weapon now gains increased attack power, as well as an enhanced capability to inflict blood loss on enemies you strike with it. Recommended Weapons For Seppuku Ash of War

Since the Elden Ring Seppuku skill enhances the ability of a weapon to inflict Blood Loss, it only makes sense to apply it to armaments that already have the Bleed effect on them already. There are a number of different items in the game that have this property, and the Katanas are among the best of them all. 

It also goes without saying, but you cannot apply this Ash of War to a lot of unique weapons like the Moonveil Katana or the Moonlight Greatsword. Because these have their own unique skills, so the game doesn’t allow you to overwrite them.

But there is still a massive collection of armaments that can get a lot out of this skill, and so we’ll list some of the best-suited ones below.

How To Duplicate Seppuku Skill In Elden Ring

Now that you’ve found the Elden Ring Seppuku Location and acquired the skill for yourself, do you know what else you can do? You can actually duplicate the Ash of War and use it on two different weapons at the same time, turning your character into a machine that eradicates enemies with the Hemmorage effect.

To do this, you first have to find items in the game called the Lost Ashes of War. These are rare consumables that can only be found in a handful of areas or purchased in limited quantities from certain merchants in the game. 

When you have one of these in your possession, go ahead and visit the Blacksmith in the Roundtable Hold. Talk to him, and you should see an option that says ‘Ash of War Duplication,’ where you can pick and choose the skill you want to replicate from those you already have a copy of. For the purposes of this article, we’re obviously going to go with Seppuku.

Now, rest at any Site of Grace in the world and choose to imbue any two weapons with the Seppuku skill. And when it comes time to choose the affinity, go with ‘Blood’ in order to maximize the Bleed output. This will also help if you’re playing a Dex build, as it increases the scaling of the weapon to a C rank.

Once the Ashes of War have been applied on two different weapons, go ahead and equip them on your character at the same time. You can now Two-Hand them one by one and use the skill individually to apply the buff to each armament. It does not work if you’re only wielding them one-handed, so keep those shields away.

Be warned though, if you manage to swap either of the weapons with anything else, the buff disappears. So keep this in mind when using the skill. The entire process is a bit tricky to get the hang of, but at the end of it all, you’ll have some incredibly powerful Boss killers on your hand.
